This year, I’ve planted thyme to enjoy homegrown herbs, learn about their benefits, and explore new recipes. I bought a bag of seeds, and they grew abundantly. Thyme has a powerful and distinct aroma; whenever I touch it, the scent lingers on my hands. The smell of it reminds me of mint.
I envisioned how delightful it would taste in a drink, as I particularly enjoy refreshing flavors that are minty, tart, sour, and slightly bitter. And believe me, it tastes so good that I want to drink it all the time. It’s as good as morning coffee; you will drink it instantly. That is the only bad thing; it won’t last long.
Thyme is an excellent herb for elevating beverages, as its appearance adds a touch of sophistication. While thyme is often used more in savory dishes, it can truly complement your drinks as well.
A sprig of thyme in a glass looks exquisite. If you don’t believe me, serve this mocktail to your guests and watch their reactions. You’ll make them feel special! They’ll be wondering what kind of a person serves such a beautifully presented, yet simple drink.

I love the subtle rose-orange color of pink grapefruit. It’s a washed version of salmon color when squeezed, which really appeals to me, just like my rose-gold themed blog. Pinky gold drink is made for me, visually and taste-wise.
You can find various shades of grapefruit, including pink, ruby, and white. What do you think? Don’t all citrus colors look insanely good? They have such naturally vivid hues.
I decided to add oranges to the mix because they are sweet and light, while grapefruit has a tart taste, and thyme adds a minty flavor. The oranges will help to balance out the bitterness.
The thyme will provide a finishing touch with its subtle minty note, adding a hint of luxury that elevates the entire presentation. It’s a great combination—sweet, bitter, and peppery, don’t you think? They say opposites attract, and this blend looks and tastes amazing.
So, let’s create a naturally sweet drink, free from artificial flavors—guilt-free to enjoy and completely alcohol-free. Why buy it when it’s so easy and quick to make at home?

SIMPLE WAY TO MAKE IT
Making this juice is incredibly easy—it’s essentially just freshly squeezed juice with a sprig or two of thyme for garnish and a little bit of flavor. All you need to do is squeeze the juice from a grapefruit and an orange.
No special equipment is necessary; a simple hand juicer will suffice. Start by filling a glass with ice, then pour the freshly squeezed juice over the ice. Add a few sprigs of thyme, and you’re all set! Seize the season of growing thyme, you won’t have this kind of look in winter.
The best part about this simple recipe is that it’s both homemade and healthy. You know exactly what you’re consuming, and preparing it yourself helps you strengthen gratefulness for natural ingredients. Enjoy the health benefits of simplicity while gaining knowledge that can make a positive difference in your life.

Thyme Combos
- Honey and ginger
- Lemon, lime, blood orange, or tangerine juice
- Cherry, apple, carrot, pear, and peach juice
- Strawberry, raspberry, currant, and blueberry juice
- Pineapple juice with coconut milk
- Hot chocolate. What a great combo!

EXTRA TIPS
- Avoid store-bought juice; we want to use more natural flavors, and making fresh juice is easy. Consider making thyme syrup to enjoy throughout the cold months.
- Want to create a smashed mocktail but don’t have a cocktail shaker? You can wrap ice cubes in a clean cloth and crush them by hitting the cloth against a firm surface. You can also get an affordable, practical manual ice crusher or use your blender if it is strong enough to handle ice.
- Muddle thyme with some water for added flavor. If you don’t have a muddler, a spoon will work just fine. Strain your mixture into a glass for a polished look.
- This drink is refreshing and can be enjoyed year-round, especially in the summer. In colder months, serve it without ice and add honey to boost your immune system. Oh, and thyme is supposed to be great in treating a cold.
- To add a touch of sweetness and enhance the presentation, create a sugar rim on the glass. Moisten the edge of the glass with an orange or grapefruit slice and then roll it in sugar.
- Don’t have fresh thyme? Plant it! It’s easy to care for. It is a perennial plant, and quite resilient.

Spritzer Variation
To make a true spritzer, add sparkling water to your drink. Just a few bubbles will elevate the drink and provide a more luxurious feel.
For a professional performance, use a cocktail shaker to mix the ingredients. Once shaken, pour the mixture over extra ice and top it with sparkling water. Stir gently to maintain the bubbles. And, don’t forget to garnish with a fresh sprig of thyme.
If you’re making a larger batch, prepare a whole pitcher. Adjust the quantities of liquids accordingly. When combining the freshly squeezed juice and sparkling water, stir gently to preserve the bubbles. Before serving, add some ice and thyme sprigs.

If you’re hosting a large party, consider making the drink in a big pitcher. Adjust the ingredients based on the number of guests—you can’t go wrong with the amounts; trust your taste. If you don’t plan to serve it immediately, wait to add the ice until just before serving.
Feel free to experiment with different citrus fruits and herbs, such as rosemary sprigs, mint, or lemon balm leaves. Remember, garnishes make a big difference in presentation. Serve drinks in an interesting glass for added appeal.
Bonus Delight: Enchanting Thyme Syrup
Ingridients
- Organic peel from 1 grapefruit + 1 orange
- 5 sprigs of fresh thyme
- ½ cup of honey
- 1 cup water
- Cute recycled jar

Instructions for Making Thyme Syrup
If you want to enjoy thyme beverages longer, you can make thyme syrup.
1. Bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat, add a sweetener of your choice, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sweetener has dissolved. While simmering use a vegetable peeler to easily peel thin strips. Peel only the zest without white pith, which is quite bitter.
2. Remove the pot from the heat and add peels and fresh thyme to infuse in the water. I recommend adding extra peels and thyme to enhance the flavor.
3. Cover the pot and let it sit for 15 minutes. After this time, strain out the thyme and peels. It’s as simple as making tea!
4. Allow the syrup to cool. Store it in a convenient bottle for pouring and put it in the refrigerator. Enjoy your thyme syrup within 2 weeks. Alternatively, you can freeze it in an ice cube tray and keep the ice cubes in a plastic bag for up to 6 months.
